Internship-trained veterinarians are a select group of doctors who have completed highly sought after postgraduate internships at major training hospitals and have demonstrated academic and clinical excellence.

Dr. Erika Luzuriaga


Dr. Erika Luzuriaga has joined the Downtown Veterinary Medical Hospital Family as Seaport Animal Hospital's full-time veterinarian. Dr. Luzuriaga obtained a degree in political science at Columbia University and enrolled in the pre-veterinary program at Mercy College shortly after graduation. After obtaining her BS and LVT certification, Dr. Luzuriaga completed her veterinary studies at Ross University and Oklahoma State University. Dr. Luzuriaga's clinical interests include ophthalmology, wound management and preventative medicine. In her free time, she enjoys dining out, movie premieres, walking her island rescue dog, Betsy, and spending time with her family, including her two cats, Mishu and Momma.

Dr. Ruth Lee


Dr. Ruth Lee is a native New Yorker; she grew up in Queens, went to the Bronx High School of Science, and obtained her undergraduate degree at the State University of New York at Geneseo. She moved on to pursue her DVM degree at Ross University of Veterinary Medicine, completing her clinical year at Oklahoma State University. After graduation, Dr. Lee advanced her veterinary training by completing a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center of Westbury in Long Island, NY. After her internship, Dr. Lee transitioned to general practice and has joined our team at Seaport Animal Hospital, where she is excited about building relationships with patients and their humans. She has a soft spot for senior dogs, including her own 17 year-old Maltese, Faith. Outside of work, she loves to kick back, watch a movie, and eat junk food.
